Recipe Box is dedicated to bring you the best culinary software available on the Web.

Recipe Box version 1 was first released for Beta testing in November of 1991. Since then we have been listening to our users tell us what they like and don't like.

Recipe Box was one of the first software packages to display a recipe on one screen (as compared to separate screens for ingredients and preparation). We developed a special database to handle all the preparation and ingredient text more efficiently and faster.  The source code consisted of over 12,000 lines of code and took almost 5 minutes to compile on my old 286 PC with a 20 MB hard drive.

Recipe Box really started looking good with version 2 and we won an award:

America Online "Top Picks" list for March/April 1994, recognizing software which is "particularly interesting, unusual, well written, fun and useful" - Recipe Box Version 2.1

The evolution of Recipe Box has brought it to Version 5, a true 32 bit application for Win 95 computers. The introduction of a nutritional database has enhanced the user’s ability to track healthy foods.

Ralph Mariano, Publisher, Editor of Silicon Times Report had this to say to his readers:

"There is one other super superb program I’d like to point out to everyone. Especially to those of you who can never find that very special recipe you put away for special occasions etc... The name of the program is Recipe Box v 5.5 and it’s written by Fred Lindow of Sunrise Software. Recipe Box imports all sorts of formats including the popular Meal Master format. The best news of all is Recipe Box is Shareware and believe me, this program magnifies the value of shareware by a hundred fold."

Version 6 has introduced many features asked for by you the user.  We are especially excited about being able to Email recipes to friends.

On July 1, 2001 we decided to expand the business to include more than just Recipe Box.  As such we needed to incorporate.  We were faced with coming up with a new name.  We finally settled on Jafre Inc., Ja from my wife's name; Jan, and Fre from my name; Fred.  Sounded silly at first, but we could not find anything better.  Plus the domain name was available!

Yahoo gave us a great review of Recipe Box v6.2 in their Yahoo Internet Life Magazine April 2002, "Click! Incredibly useful sites ...and Downloads".  They referred our software as: '...one of the most popular recipe programs available online!'.  Unfortunately because of copyright restrictions we can not provide the entire article on our web site without paying them a lot of money.

On July 1, 2006 we released Recipe Box v6.3 as freeware, opened up a Member's Corner and started a new program called Recipe Management Services.  A complete change in business philosophy, from selling software to using it for pull-through sales as a service provider.

C/NET Download Dispatch Weekend Edition for December 14, 2006 ranked Recipe Box #1 of their top recipe software.

With the continued help and advice of our users, like you, Recipe Box will continue to evolve to meet the needs of today's culinary demands.

I hope you enjoy Recipe Box as much as we have over the last twelve years.
